- Are you feeling stuck between cultures? Confused about who you are?
- Are you frustrated with your immigrant parents? Your Canadian born children?
- Are you having difficulty adjusting to living in Canada?
As immigrants or as children of immigrants, you may be struggling with concerns of cultural or ethnic identity, becoming independent from your parents, differences in values, beliefs and life styles, cultural or language barriers, dealing with losses related to displacement and uprooting from your original culture. Some of you may be in inter-racial or inter-cultural relationships and having to navigate differences with your partner in regards to differences in values and parenting. These concerns can be explored with a counsellor in a safe and confidential environment while getting help with emotional and psychological adjustments related to acculturation.

For immigrant parents
Are you staying awake at night because:
The immigrant parents often struggle with their Canadian born or Canadian raised children as they grow older. If this is the situation at your household, this may cause you to feel sad, angry or disappointed. I would like to support you in finding ways to improving communication, problem solve the differences, and reducing conflict between you and your children.
I work to understand you through your unique, individual, and cultural lens with sensitivity, without imposing my ideas and values on you. My own experience as an international student, an immigrant and a bi-cultural person going through transitions help me empathize and understand you. I strive to provide culturally-sensitive and competent services. I would like to help you find what values, beliefs or life styles from your culture of origin that work for you, and explore ways of continuing to live within these values. We may also explore those values that no longer fit your current life, even though those values were important and had supported you in the past. Through our work together, you may discover different ways of being, and feeling more integrated as a person with diverse backgrounds and values. You may also experience less conflict within yourself and come to a more integrated cultural identity.

- You are worried he or she will be too westernized and lose your traditional ways?
