Is stress getting you down?
Would you like to have healthier and more meaningful relationships?
Are you tired of being limited by depression or anxiety?
Joy has been providing counselling and psychotherapy services for more than 15 years in various settings, including private practice, a university counselling centre, various non-profit community agencies, an outpatient mental health clinic, and a brief solution-focused therapy program for youth. Joy is especially interested in working with young professionals (20s to 40s) with concerns commonly faced by this age group. You may be in the process of finding out your place in the world, seeking to understand who you are, what you want in life, and where you are going. Together we will explore different ways to understand yourself, process your feelings and thoughts, gain insights about your experience and your relationships. Another area of interest in Joy's work is cross-cultural counselling, which includes explorations of cultural identity, first or second generation immigrant issues, third culture kids or adults, and intercultural relationships. Joy's work is relationship and attachment based and integrates psychotherapy approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Existential Therapy. Joy works with you from where you are, supporting you in building self awareness, becoming more compassionate, kinder and accepting of yourself. Joy hopes to support you in living a more peaceful and meaningful existence.

About Joy Tsai Yuan Hung, RCC
Hello! I am Joy. I am a first-generation Taiwanese Canadian. I also went to school, lived, and worked in United States for 12 years. I was a sensitive child. I went through a difficult adolescent period in Taiwan and experienced immigration and transition challenges moving to Canada as a young adult. These experiences help make me the person I am today. Remembering what it was like to go through challenging times in my life gives me compassion and helps me provide a safe and trusting space for my clients. I strive to understand and work with you starting from wherever you are. In our work together, I will help you build awareness and give you the tools to better understand your feelings, thoughts, body and personal experience. As a fellow human being with life’s ups and downs, I am here as a companion in your journey of growth and self-discovery. I have always been interested in incorporating the East and West influences from my own bi-cultural background. I received a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from an East/West Psychology program in United States. While counselling or psychotherapy is largely a western practice, I believe in the importance of integrating the wisdom, traditions and philosophical ideas from the East into my counselling practice.
